A Family Business
Cape Cod Package Store (CCPS) has quite a history in the village of Centerville, receiving one of the first liquor licenses issued on Cape Cod after the repeal of prohibition. Opened by John and Sylvia Pendergast in 1939, the Pendergast family has been in the wine, spirits and beer business for 85 years, now into our third generation. After managing the store for more than a decade, John J. Pendergast Jr., took over the business from his parents in 1967. Over the next 50 years, “Jack, Jr.”, and his wife Ann Shirley devoted their time and energy to making CCPS the respected business it is today. A highly regarded community and beverage industry leader, Jack Jr., transferred ownership to his daughters Andrea Pendergast, Danette Atsalis and Terri Anne Haidinger in 2010, uniquely leading a business in an industry that is traditionally dominated by men. Today the sisters continue to grow the family business by bringing together a team of individuals who strive to provide exceptional customer service and a superb product selection. A commitment since our beginning, CCPS remains invested in supporting local charities and organizations through our generous donations to numerous fundraisers.
Customer Service is #1
Jack Jr., always said “If the customer wasn’t here, we wouldn’t be here," a sentiment that is on the forefront of how we conducts ourselves day in and day out. If the product is available in Massachusetts, we will get it for our customers. Can’t stop in the store to pick up your order, no problem. We have friendly staff to deliver any size order in our customized delivery van. Need help planning a party or event? We are the ones to contact offering free consultation to best meet your needs and budget.
More than a Package Store
The store was originally opened at 404 Main Street in Centerville, but later we moved to our current location on Falmouth Road/Route 28, an area that thousands of locals and tourists travel by every day. In January 2010, Jack, Jr., with his daughters by his side, initiated the renovation of the store within three phases in order to keep the business open. With the full renovation completed in the fall 2010, our customers can have a one-stop shopping experience for everything you need for a get together, a gift or hanging out at your favorite beach in the area. You will find this “package store," a term primarily used in New England, has wine selections at every price point (check out our boutique Wine Room and temperature-controlled Wine Cellar), a liquor selection that can accompany all your favorite cocktails, and every craft beer imaginable that we can get our hands on. And don’t forget to check out our specialty food section with cheeses, meats and crackers.
